Over 50% of public organizations, registered by the Justice Ministry in Ukraine in 2006, turn out to be Cossack movements, Deputy Justice Minister Lidiya Horbunova told.
According to her, the Justice Ministry registered as many as 25 Cossack's public organizations, 11 of which are of the all-Ukrainian status, while 14 claim to be international. 2006 also saw legalization of 350 local public organizations and 150 Cossack's local public organizations.
According to Lidiya Horbunova, the organizations are mainly based in the Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia and other regions, as well, as in Crimea and Kyiv.
The Deputy Justice Minister stressed the majority of the Cossack's public organizations aim at performing physical training.
Lidiya Horbunova reminded the "Ukrainian Cossackhood", set up in March 1992, was the only one to provide similar services in Ukraine in those times, “Cabinet press office” informs..
