“For Ukraine it is one of many roads to Europe,” Yushchenko noted during the opening ceremony. He reminded that the agreement on opening a border station was made during Romania President’s visit to Kyiv in February, 2006.
The Romanian side built a bridge across Tysa river last year. “This bridge can symbolize that Romania is a link for Ukraine on its way to the European Union,” Basescu said during the ceremony. Romanian President underlined that his country is a boundary country of the EU. According to him, Romania will not be an isolating border, but, vise versa, it will be open for Ukraine’s integration into the EU.
