The Ukrainian Justice Ministry is submitting a new redaction of the law on information for public discussion, Cabinet press office reported.

According to Justice Minister Oleksandr Lavrynovych, the bill has been elaborated with consideration of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe's resolution, in which PACE urges Ukraine to de-classify all official documents, which were illegally closed for public access.

The bill contains a norm prohibiting state authorities and local self-government bodies to set confidential access regime to information on their own. Another important novelty is simplified procedures of execution of requests for information to state authority bodies and local governments. The bill also provides for clear regulation of the information access regime.

The new wording of the law "On information" provides for such positions as: information access regime; order of information delivery upon requests; challenging decisions, actions or inactivity of state authorities and local governments, citizens' formations, enterprises and organizations, irrespectively of their ownership; information security; responsibility for violation of the legislation on information.
