The people’s deputy of Ukraine, a member of BYuT faction Mykola Tomenko forecasts 2007 to be a year of permanent political conflict.
“Political confrontation between Viktor Yushchenko’s team and Viktor Yanukovych’s team on the one hand will continue and on the other hand opposition will stand up for its right to influence the situation and political decisions,” Tomenko considers.
According to him, one more political conflict will be – struggle of local elites.
“Actually this year there will be a struggle for status of the main political actor in the system of the executive power,” he noted.
Speaking about the Parliament’s dismissal, the BYuT’s representative noted that there is a possibility of dismissal and correspondently Government’s resignation but he still doesn’t see any significant presupposition for such decision. “Nowadays, neither Yushchenko, Yanukovych nor Moroz are interested in it. The current situation suits the key representatives of anti-crisis coalition. Yushchenko is not satisfied with this situation but he has no guarantees his team will get more seats than now in the Parliament after early elections,” he said.
Tomenko considers it is easier for Yushchenko to agree with anti-crisis coalition than to risk during early elections. “Only BYuT’s position is not enough to change this situation,” he added.
