The Government will allocate UAH 253.3 million for infrastructure development of Zmiyiny Island by 2011.

The first deputy Economy Minister Serhy Romanyuk told journalists at the Cabinet’s session, referred to regulations on complex program of infrastructure development on Zmiyiny Island for a period of 2007-2011 that was adopted today at the Cabinet’s session.

He noted that UAH 151 million of this sum will be allocated to Environment Ministry for realization of geological exploration work on oil and gas deposits.

Moreover, UAH 13 million will be allocated to Energy Ministry for energy supply of the island.. UAH 65 million will be allocated for infrastructure development.

Romanyuk said that program financing in 2007 will comprise UAH 63.6 million. UAH 47 million was spent on infrastructure development in 2002-2006, UAH 38.7 million of that sum were allocated from the budget.

In 2006 a decision was made to create settlement on the Zmiyiny Island (the Black see) to provide necessary conditions for development of scientific tourism and fishery and normal living conditions for people.
