
The foreign Minister of Ukraine Borys Tarasyuk is disappointed that funds on realization of the Cooperation program with foreign Ukrainians are not allocated in the state budget for 2007. Tarasyuk told today at the press-conference.
“I can not but to express concern that we face with deep disappointment in this significant sphere of foreign policy,” the Minister said adding that “it is hard to imagine what the high official were guided by, excluding this significant program out of the budget draft bill.”
Tarasyuk noted, as a result of this, the foreign Ukrainians are deprived of possibility to get financial support in the amount of UAH 20million. It will bring disappointment and criticism of foreign Ukrainians.
According to Tarasyuk it is disappointing for the Foreign Ministry that great recourses and industry for foreign Ukrainians are graded, for unity and revival and consolidation of the world Ukrainians.
Tarasyuk noted that the department of foreign policy carried out significant work on realization of cooperation program with foreign Ukrainians.
He reminded that with the purpose to establish relations with foreign Ukrainians UAH 14 million were allocated from the state budget for 2006.
According to Tarasyuk, more than 200 foreign Ukrainian public organizations in about 50 countries of the world got financial support in their cultural, educational and publishing activity. The Minister reminded that today in Ukraine more that 900 granting application of foreign Ukrainian status are considered and 670 foreign Ukrainians are granted identity cards. Status of the foreign Ukrainian allows carrying out free repeated trips to Ukraine, the Minister added.
