On Friday, December 22, BYuT leader Yulia Tymoshenko declared that her political force sent a submission to the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, decision of which will let to hold early parliamentary elections.

“Early parliamentary election is the lesser of evils. It is better to pull out a carious tooth at one stroke than to crumble it by dental drilling machine for hours and without result,” BYuT leader told “Kommersant-Ukraine” newspaper.

She noted that courage is needed to make such decision, because in case of reelections some political forces run a risk not to win parliamentary seats or to win less than they have now.

“I can say that we sent certain submission to the CC and if the court makes legal decision, there will more than necessary grounds to hold early elections,” Tymoshenko noted.

She refused to reveal the details of the submission, but noted that the matter concerns “removal of the team in force from the power.”

Tymoshenko also declared that she is not going to be an instrument in President’s hands during the fight for dismissal of the Verkhovna Rada.

“I am three hundred per cent sure that they want to use me. But I know for sure that I am not a phantom in the President’s hands. He cannot either appoint me the Premier or dismiss,” she said.

At the same time Tymoshenko stressed that early elections “will not solve the problem essentially.” “Today the constitutional crisis prevails. Thus, dismissing the parliament we should suggest the country new Constitution, but to revise and adopt new Constitution it is necessary to cancel political reform,” she said.

The leader of BYuT doesn’t agree that Viktor Yanukovych is interested in cancellation of political reform, inasmuch as he would have a perspective to become a president in three years.

“I can contend! It is not so, as if he governs the state in such way still three years, he will be interested in presidential elections less that others. Even today’s rate of Viktor Yushchenko will seem to him excellent,” she is convinced.

Answering the question how she considers the possibility of presence of only BYuT and the Party of Regions in the Parliament in case of reelections, Tymoshenko answered that she considers two-party system as negative. She thinks “natural surge” of new leaders, who are not a “technological project”, is necessary.
