President mourns Turkmen leader

Victor Yushchenko has offered sympathy to Turkmenistan’s acting President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov over the death of President Saparmurat Niyazov, “President’s press office” informs.

“Saparmurat Atayevych has been known in Ukraine as a wise and levelheaded politician and Ukraine’s big friend. His tireless efforts and personal qualities helped implement large-scale development projects in Turkmenistan’s economic, social and spiritual life and considerably reinforce the country's neutrality,” he wrote.
