During the meeting Prime Minister of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Ukraine Jean Paul Vezian discussed prospects of bilateral cooperation in trade-economic and energy spheres, in particular, Cabinet press office reported.

The Head of Government is satisfied with a stable tendency to deepening trade-economic cooperation between Ukraine and France, noting that during January-September 2006 turnover between two countries increased almost by 33% and totalled above 1 billion USD. Viktor Yanukovych is also pleased with an active bilateral dialogue between the representatives of small and midsize business.

At the same time, according to the Prime Minister, the activity of the Mixed Commission for economic cooperation, the 4th session of which took place last week in Paris, should become a working mechanism for deepening trade-economic relations.

The discussion also concerned energy cooperation, particularly, possibility of France’s participation in the international gas-transport consortium.

Speaking about the internal political situation, Viktor Yanukovych stressed that for the first time during Ukraine’s independence a working mechanism of cooperation between the Government and Parliament had been created that gave an opportunity to carry out large-scale reforms.

The sides also discussed an issue on participation of the French Consortium Novark tender for building a new safe confinement at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
