Washington, USA saw presentation of the Ukrainian-US project of an underwater museum in the Black Sea, “Cabinet press office” reported.
The presentation involved participation of Director of the Department Underwater Heritage of Ukraine, professor Serhiy Voronov and Director of the Institute of Archeological Oceanographic of the Rod-Islands University, Ukraine's Ambassador to the USA Oleh Shashmur.
According to Robert Ballard, scientists state their interest in the Black Sea. He also noted that a project on provision of access to individuals to the Black Sea's secrets will be launched in 2007.
Serhiy Voronov stated his gratitude to US counterparts for efficient cooperation in 2006. Ukrainian and US scientists managed to establish as many as 494 objects, which can be called objects of cultural underwater heritage of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian scientists also informed the Ukrainian-US scientists group will embark on launching the "Byzantium - 2007" project in January 15, which envisages as many as 17 archeological expeditions.
