Victor Yushchenko took part in a business forum in Tallinn, president’s press office reported. He told participants he sees “great prospects” for Ukraine’s business cooperation with Estonia.
In his speech the President said the two countries had no problems in their relations, which he described as a “reason to speak about good business prospects,” and urged the local business community to start new projects in Ukraine.
Yushchenko said his government took steps to boost business competition and legalize the economy, which helps “start partnership between government and business.”
He said Ukraine was determined to integrate into the European Union and appreciated the experience of the Baltic States in this area. However, he admitted Ukraine would have to introduce many reforms to achieve this. He said the country was going to join the World Trade Organization and sign a free trade zone agreement and an enhanced cooperation agreement with the EU in 2007.
The participants of the forum said our country’s WTO accession would help forge closer ties with Estonia.
Following the forum, MP Anatoly Kinakh, President of the Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, signed a cooperation agreement between the UUIE and Enterprise Estonia.
