Victor Yushchenko attended a congress of the People's Union Our Ukraine party.
In his speech, the President urged its members to unite Ukraine’s democratic forces.
“Our Ukraine must initiate consolidation,” he said, adding that the
party must “set higher standards.”
“We must create a spirit of understanding and reinforce party discipline,” he said, suggesting formulating principles and criteria to evaluate the bloc’s performance.
In his turn, the newly elected head of the political council of the party Our Ukraine Victor Baloha said that the only goal of the party is “unity of ranks, we must be together, and we must have common interests.”
He called upon all the present to take active part in a number of party’s local arrangements in order to hold effective party congress in three months.
Roman Bezsmertny was elected to be the head of the executive committee of the party.
