An exhibition devoted to Holodomor of 1932-33 in Ukraine under the name “unclassified memory” has been opened in Kyiv. Materials from Security Service archives are represented at the exhibition, ForUm’s correspondent reports.

President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko with his wife Kateryna, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksand Moroz, Security Service head Ihor Dryzhchany, Culture Minister Yuri Bohutsky, Youth, Family and Sport Minister Yuri Pavlenko and people’s deputies take part in the action.

Addressing the audience Yushchenko noted that Holodomor of 1932-33 years is a terrible page of Ukrainian history and must be recognized as an act of genocide against the Ukrainian nation.

“I want to call upon all Ukrainian politicians to determine their position on this issue, to be courageous, to stand up from knees and name this page of history a genocide, because destruction of ten million people is a mass annihilation of the people,” Yushchenko.

The President noted that many parliaments of the world have already recognized the events of the years 1932-33 in Ukraine as an act of genocide against the nation.
