Victor Yushchenko has spoken in the Georgian parliament to mark the third anniversary of the Rose Revolution, president's press office reported.

In his speech, the President said, “On the part of Ukrainians, I honor you as a wonderful and great nation.”

Yushchenko said the Rose Revolution in Georgia and the Orange Revolution in Ukraine were the components of “the unstoppable democratic process, which embraces all territories where thoughts and feelings reign.” He added that the two nations would gain true freedom “when they continue reforms.”

Speaking about ways to build closer ties between Ukraine and Georgia, Yushchenko said it was important to “fill this relationship with specific new projects.”

“I hope the experience of the GUAM states, Georgia in particular, in the implementation of such regional projects as Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Baku-Supsa, Baku-Erzurum and also Baku-Akhalkalaki-Kars will help develop bilateral and multilateral projects,” he said.

President Mikhail Saakashvili of Georgia, Georgia’s Speaker Nino Burjanadze, President Toomas Hendrik Ilves of Estonia and Poland’s Speaker Marek Jurek attended the session.

Following the event, Victor Yushchenko took part in a ceremony to unveil a Freedom Monument in Tbilisi’s Freedom Square.
