EU Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs confirmed his intention to come to Ukraine on an official visit on December 21. He confirmed this during a meeting with Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Vitaliy Haiduk in Brussels, “Cabinet press office” reported.
The meeting dealt with cooperation directions in the energy sphere, particularly nuclear safety and nuclear energy, the coal industry and cooperation in oil and gas infrastructure projects.
Vitaliy Haiduk listed problems, which Ukrainian operators of electric power transmission lines are faced while accessing the EU electricity market. He urged to synchronize European and Ukrainian electric power systems.
During his visit to Ukraine Mr Piebalgs will take part in opening a regional metrological center in the town of Boyarka, Kyiv region.
