During the meeting Prime Minister of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and President of the Lithuanian Republic discussed the prospects of bilateral cooperation in trade-economic, energy and transport spheres, in particular, “Cabinet press office” reported.

The participants of the meeting positively estimate deepening of bilateral trade-economic cooperation. During January-August 2006 the commodity turnover between Ukraine and Lithuania increased by 39% as compared with the same period of the past year. At that the Head of Ukrainian Government stressed the necessity to attract all the present potential for both increasing volume of bilateral trade and diversification.

During the discussion an issue on Ukraine’s integration into the European Union has been considered. “We really appreciate the Lithuanian support concerning Eurointegration aspirations of Ukraine”, Viktor Yanukovych emphasized.

From his part the President of the Republic of Lithuanian noted that democratic and economically developed Ukraine takes the part of providing stability on the continent.

Viktor Yanukovych and Valdas Adamkus support the deepening of cooperation in trilateral format Ukraine-Lithuania-Poland.
