A sitting of the organizing committee on preparing and holding the international media forum "Ukraine on World Information Map", headed by Dmytro Tabachnyk, took place in Kyiv, Cabinet press office reported.
Participants in the sitting discussed a number of organizing issues, including a program and number of participants and got familiar with workshops, planed within the framework of the event.
Chief of the State Committee of TV and Radio Broadcasting Eduard Prutnik noted that as of November 7 as many as 137 foreign representatives from 19 countries, including Azerbaijan, Argentina, Bulgaria, Belarus, the UK, Norway, Cuba, Latvia, Moldova, Poland, Italy, Germany, Russia, the USA, Serbia, Turkey, Estonia and the EU are registered to participate in the event. Ukrainian media people also registered themselves to participate in the media forum.
According to Eduard Prutnik, the program of the event envisages meetings with President Viktor Yushchenko, Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych, Speaker Oleksandr Moroz and holding numerous roundtables and discussion clubs on role of the mass media in the context of Ukraine's EuroIntegration choice.
The program of the forum also envisages media-tours to historical and cultural places of Ukraine, which will enable the participants to get familiar with investment attractive enterprises of the Kyiv, Dnipropetrovs’k, Donetsk, Lviv and Odesa regions.
The international media forum "Ukraine on World Information Map" will for the first time be held in Ukraine to fulfill provision of a supplementary resolution on the mass media in Ukraine, approved on March 11, 2005 at the 7th European ministerial conference on policy in the mass media sector.
The international media forum aims at provision of Ukraine's presence in European and world space, provision of objective information on political and economic processes in Ukraine and popularization of information on cultural achievements, spiritual values, cultural exchange and international tourism.
