Victor Yushchenko has written a letter to Prosecutor General Oleksandr Medvedko with a request to protect the rights of those who want to watch foreign films in their native language, president's press office reported.
The President said the Economic Court of Appeal had repealed the January 16 governmental decree on the distribution and demonstration of films, which set quotas to dub or subtitle foreign films for Ukrainian-speaking audiences.
“This situation can negatively affect the rights and interests of the citizens that affiliate themselves with Ukrainians and have the right to watch foreign films in their mother tongue,” he said.
