Prime Minister of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych considers that the session of Economic committee of Ukrainian-Russian intergovernmental commission will become the beginning of a new format of cooperation between the two countries.

“Today we must start a countdown of new times of Ukrainian-Russian mutual relations,” Yanukovych declared opening the session of the committee.

According to Ukraine’s PM, both parties must “look ahead bravely and with confidence.”

The Premier also underlined that the government of Ukraine wants to build cooperation with Russia on the base of mutual understanding, and the main goal of such cooperation is growth of common weal of both countries.

Yanukovych noted that Russia is Ukraine’s strategic trade partner. According to government’s data, Russia’s part in the volume of Ukraine’s foreign trade in 2005 made 27%. For eight months of this year bilateral turnover has made 6.5%.

As a reminder, Russia’s PM Mikhail Fradkov has arrived in Ukraine to take part in the session of Economic committee.
