President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko cannot allow Ukrainian government and Ukraine on the whole to lose rating on foreign markets because of that Ukraine is still not a member of the World Trade Organization, as deputy Chief-of Staff Arseny Yatsenyuk told Wednesday at the briefing.

“The President backs the government and submits a package of bills necessary for WTO accession for consideration and determines it as ‘priority’,” Yatsenyuk stated. He specified that this package includes 16 bills.

According to Yatsenyuk, if all the bills are given their fist reading this week and approved the next plenary session, it will be possible to finish the report of the working group on WTO accession before October 27. “In other word, if to accept the presidential initiative, Ukraine may become the WTO member this year,” he noted.
