GUAM (Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova) urge to reject one-sided actions with regard to Georgia, which are aimed at ceasing economic, humanitarian and other intergovernmental contacts, a statement by member-states of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development GUAM said Monday, Cabinet's press office reported.

The statement was aired by head of a Ukrainian delegation, First Deputy Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko during a session of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers in Minsk, Belarus.

As the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's press service reported, the GUAM nations expressed their common belief that problems which have emerged, including those in the conflict settlement, must be regulated through negotiations, in compliance with generally recognized norms and principles of the international law, sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of borders, as set in the UN Charter, OSCE and CIS documents.

As GUAM countries stated, any inadequate actions, which any of the CIS countries apply toward another CIS member, do not correspond to the relationship principles, which are set in the CIS documents.

The statement hailed Georgia's passing detained Russian officers over to the Russian Federation, as a move which might have taken the strain off.

The GUAM nations addressed other CIS countries to support efforts to overcome the crisis in relations between Russia and Georgia.
