The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has given the bill on changes to the law on veterinary medicine, necessary for the WTO accession, its first reading. 388 deputies out of 438 registered in the hall voted for the bill Tuesday.

VR chairman Oleksandr Moroz has charged head of the agrarian committee Mikhailo Gladiy (BYuT faction) with a job of finishing the bill in the shortest possible time for the parliament to adopt it in full.

According to Gladiy, the draft document provides for harmonization of the legislation in accordance with international standards. The bill presents in details all requirements of international legislation concerning sanitary and veterinary measures and procedures.
