On October 18, Ukraine and the EU are to ink a Memorandum on Mutual Understanding within the sphere of agriculture and rural development. The ceremony will take place during the visit of the Ukrainian agrarian delegation headed by Minister Yuri Melnyk.

The document will be signed by Ukraine’s Melnyk and the European Commission’s Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development.

The document is aimed at consolidation of the agricultural cooperation and launch of the structural dialogue within this field based on the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement and the EU-Ukraine Action Plan.

In the course of the meeting, the participants plan to discuss implementation of measures within the legislation and policy, observation of the changes within the agrarian markets, the influence of market changes on the productivity, adjustment of the policy related to the quality issue and Ukraine-EU positions regarding the international organisations.

Minister Melnyk is to meet Hue Mingarelli, a Director of the Directorate General on External Relations, and representatives of professional agricultural organizations of the European Union.
