Secretariat Chief of Staff Viktor Baloha met with UK Ambassador to Ukraine Timothy Barrow on Friday, President's press office reported.

They discussed ways to develop cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union. They also spoke about WTO issues.

Mr. Baloha said “the Verkhovna Rada and the government of Ukraine can pass bills to help Ukraine join the WTO soon.”

“Everything depends on the political will of the government and parliament,” he said.

Mr. Barrow said “Ukraine’s WTO accession is the factor that will add new quality to our bilateral relations and enable the sides to start a dialogue on free trade.” He also expressed hopes “the Ukrainian government will succeed in this area.”

Mr. Baloha and Mr. Barrow discussed Ukraine's home issues. The chief of staff said “the President urges all the political forces to seek compromise in coalition talks.”

Deputy Chief of Staff Oleksandr Chalyy attended the meeting.
