President Viktor Yushchenko signed a decree "On Day of memory of famine and political repression victims", which is marked on November 25. In this connected the President also decreed to create an organizing committee, Cabinet’s press office reproted.
On November 25 Ukraine's national flags will be lowered and entertainment events restricted.
The Cabinet of ministers has been charged to step up erecting a Memorial to commemorate victims of famines in Ukraine. The Government should also account expenditures for financing the Memorial building and carrying out researches into Ukrainian famines, while polishing the 2007 budget bill.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has been instructed to step up activities for the world community's recognition of the 1932 - 1933 famine in Ukraine as the genocide against the Ukrainian people and as one of the biggest tragedies of the humanity.
