Victor Yushchenko has told reporters in Chernihiv he wants the Our Ukraine Bloc and the Regions Party to resume coalition talks but will agree to dismiss Defense Minister Anatoly Hrytsenko and Foreign Minister Borys Tarasyuk if “the talks fail.”
The President said he had recently met with all the major negotiators, the president press office reports.
“I feel most of the participants of the talks think the negotiations are incomplete and that there is still some chance to compromise,” he said, adding that the two parties sought to compromise on key principles of Ukraine’s home and foreign policy to preserve political stability in the country.
President Yushchenko, however, declared: “The ministers representing Our Ukraine cannot be in the government that does not adhere to the [National Unity] Pact.”
