Ukrainian Industrial Property Institute attached to the State Department of Intellectual Property (SDIP) of Ukraine’s Education and Science works out changes in the laws regulating the intellectual property sphere, Anatoly Hornisevych, a Deputy Director of SDIP Institute, reported Wednesday at a seminar “Legal Protection of Meds: Current Legislative System and Law Enforcement Practice.”

A draft bill introducing changes into the Acts on Rights Protection of Creations and Utility Models, on Rights Protection of Industrial Designs, on Rights Protection of Topography of Integrated Circuits and on Rights Protection of Goods and Services Logos is worked out. According to Hornisevych, these changes are first of all aimed at adjustment of Ukrainian legislation to European standards and consider being a conversion to the so-called information sphere of intellectual rights protection.

“The community will know every step taken by SDIP regarding the consideration of the applications or making decisions concerning every application. The decisions will be posted on SDIP web-page,” stressed Hornisevych.

Concluding, he mentioned that the draft bill is at the stage of elaboration but soon, in November it will be submitted to the corresponding ministries for consideration and then to the Cabinet of Ukraine. He also stated necessity to form an Intellectual Property Code of Ukraine.
