Member of the delegation of Committee on the Honouring of Obligations and Commitments by Member States of the Council of Europe (Monitoring Committee) Hanne Severinsen stands for cancellation of PACE monitoring. Mrs Severinsen told Wednesday at the press conference in the parliament of Ukraine.

She underlined that, during the whole time Ukraine is being monitored, new claims have not been laid down. Severinsen wished promises made by Ukrainian politicians to be fulfilled. “We would like to stop monitoring, and we hope this proposition will be included in the autumn report. We listen to promises and consider them, but, unfortunately, not all of them are realized,” Severinsen noted.

In his turn, chairman of the permanent delegation of the Verkhovna Rada to PACE Vitaly Shibko noted that PACE monitoring did not irk Ukraine, as, first of all, it guarantees constant dialogue between Ukraine and Council of Europe.

As an example of profit due to PACE monitoring he cited Turkey, which has considerably improved the process of EU integration.
