Victor Yushchenko has met with Jean Lemierre, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
They spoke about the development of EBRD programs in Ukraine, Europe’s collective energy security and the implementation of the shelter project in Chornobyl, the president press office informs.
Mr. Lemierre said his bank was going to increase the funding of its projects in Ukraine by 50%, planning to invest in energy efficiency technologies, the restoration of outdated energy facilities, municipal programs and projects to develop Ukraine’s transportation network.
Secretariat Chief of Staff Viktor Baloha and First Deputy Chief of Staff Arseniy Yatsenyuk attended the meeting.
The President is expected to meet with Mr. Lemierre for the second round of talks on October 6.
