Ukraine’s Association of the Gas Traders forecasts that the Russian natural gas price for Ukraine will be $130 per 1,000 cu m in 2007.
“The official limit gas price for the industrial enterprises is $150 per 1,000 cu m. The Budget extends it to $135. As far as I know, the price may be $130,” said Gas Traders’ Association President Roman Storozhev.
The trade extra charge on import gas in Ukraine’s domestic market would be significantly less than the previous year if the gas suppliers might increase in number.
“If there are few gas suppliers for the country then the trade extra charge is stated by the market,” explained Storozhev. As an example, Ukrgasenergo adds $15 for the price of 1,000 cu m.
Storozhev also stressed that if the information about the separate gas supply by Akhmetov’s structures appeared to be true, it would be a serious precedent for the extension of the suppliers’ market in Ukraine.
“The legislative possibilities exist but nobody has bought gas according to the agreements except Ukrgasenergo. We will get to know its price and the way it is delivered… We are very interested in this question,” summed up Storozhev.
