Ukrainian Defense Minister Anatoly Hrytsenko met with US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld in Tirana, Albania on a visit there to attend a session of the Council of South - East European Defense Ministers, Cabinet’s press office reported.
According to the Defense Ministry's press service, the meeting dealt with internal political situation in Ukraine, Ukraine - NATO and Ukraine - USA relations, as well as Ukrainian - American military cooperation, in particular, coordination of joint actions in peacekeeping operations.
The Ukrainian Defense Minister and the US Secretary of Defense agreed upon increasing the number of Ukrainian officers to study in US military colleges. Anatoly Hrytsenko stated Ukraine's inevitable course for NATO and reformation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Presently, eight officers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces study in US military colleges.
