Secretariat Chief of Staff Victor Baloha took part in a ceremony to open a church in the town of Mukachevo, the president press office reports.
In his speech, Baloha opined: “The development of our culture and the revival of our spirit lay the foundation for the country'sconsolidation."
The Chief of Staff said Victor Yushchenko strived to secure the integrity of Ukraine's language and culture and to ensure freedom of religion. He added that these objectives were among the fundamentals ofthe National Unity Pact.
“All the political forces that signed the document confirmed their commitment to these goals,” he said.
Baloha said each believer could visit the newly opened church: “We can go to different churches, look at different icons, have different political views but national values and interests should unite all Ukrainians.”
