Ukrainian Minister for Foreign Affairs Borys Tarasyuk, on a visit to New York for participation in the 61st UN GA session, met with Czech Minister for Foreign Affairs Alexandr Vondra.

The parties to the meeting discussed bipartite cooperation. Tarasyuk briefed his colleague about the Verkhovna Rada's ratification of an agreement on economic, industrial and scientific - technical cooperation between Ukraine and the Czech Republic and aired his hope that it would give an additional impetus to further development of relations between the countries. The meeting also dealt with legal employment and social protection of Ukrainian citizens in the Czech Republic, and the parties agreed to step up activities in that direction.

The Ukrainian and Czech Foreign Ministers also discussed regional, international developments, the two countries' cooperation in international and regional organizations, including in UN, and focused on UN reformation and Ukraine's initiatives to this end.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Borys Tarasyuk also met with Gabonese Foreign Minister Jean Ping. Borys Tarasyuk unveiled Ukraine's intention to shortly open a diplomatic mission to this country.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Tarasyuk also met with Foreign Minister of Guatemala Gerth Rosenthal. The parties focused on the need to enlarge the treaty - legal basis between the countries, particular in the trade - economic domain. The sides noted significant growth of the trade turnover between the countries, which in 2006's first half increased the 2005 performance and reached over 20 mln USD. Borys Tarasyuk confirmed Ukraine's readiness to host a Ukrainian - Guatemalan business forum.
