
September 21, PM Yanukovich declared Ukraine’s readiness to challenge bid for the EU membership. He stated it at a pres conference after his meeting with European Parliament Chairman Josep Borrell held in Brussels.
“Ukraine is ready to pass the way leading to the accession into the EU. This opportunity is given by the changes happening in Ukraine due to the constitutional reform,” said PM Yanukovich.
According to his words, it is very the constitutional reform which forms an appropriate model of cooperation between the parliament, the government and the President.
PM Yanukovich also stressed the necessity of serious self-reformation in Ukraine on the path to the EU. Regarding it, Ukrainian government has outlined the priorities of its work such as a combat against corruption, implementation of the economic reforms, Ukraine’s accession to the WTO and formation of the EU-Ukraine free trade area. He expressed his hope that such close ties between Ukraine and the European Parliament would be maintained and developed.
PM Yanukovich thanked Mr Borrell for a proposal to address political circles and heads of the political forces representing the current European Parliament.
As a reminder, PM of Ukraine Victor Yanukovich pays one-day working visit to Brussels for purposes to meet EU Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and EU Parliament Chairman Josep Borrell.
