September 11, President Victor Yushchenko has met U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine William Taylor.
They discussed ways to develop energy and anti-corruption cooperation between Ukraine and the United States. Mr. Taylor assured the President his country was ready to work with the new Ukrainian government and added that President Bush was willing to visit Ukraine, the president press office informed.
In his turn, President Yushchenko offered sympathy to the Ambassador and the U.S. President on the fifth anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
Today, flowers havebeen laid on behalf of the Ukrainian Presidenton the monument unveiled a year ago to commemorate the tragedy.
“Ukraine is a good example of democratic development and how the democratic principles may be used. It may be a good standard of conduct for the rest of the world, in the Middle East for example,” said the US Ambassador making speech at the commemorating ceremony. He also added that Ukraine became an example of how Ukrainians have assumed the responsibility for the Cabinet’s formation.
