Ukraine's Coal Minister Serhiy Tulub is insisting on "freezing" the price on power-generating coal until thermoelectric power stations complete the process of creating coal reserves for the autumn-winter heating season.

According to Minister Tulub, the price at which power-generating coal is sold to thermoelectric power stations has remained unchanged ($ 47 per ton) since the beginning of this year while the Coal Ministry's calculations indicate that the price should be scaled up to US$ 50.8 per ton.

Serhiy Tulub said that the reserve of only 2.3 million tons of power-generating coal has thus far been created at thermoelectric power stations out of the required 4 million tons, the Cabinet press office informs.
