Ukraine is the only country of the former USSR which develops political and civil freedoms, US NGO Freedom House reports.
The experts have analysed the situation in 192 world countries and divided them into three groups: free, partially free and unfree.
Ukraine along with Baltic countries is placed in the free category.
“Ukraine demonstrated readiness to political and civil reforms; the legal changing of power happened with all existing legislative rules observed. It let us hope that Ukraine’s mechanisms and structures, although rather weak, will be a basement for viable and long-termed democracy,” said the Director of the Freedom House Europe.
