An inter-agency working group has been set up to analyze the situation involving importation of automobiles into Ukraine as humanitarian aid, the press service of the State Customs Service has announced.

The working group is made up of representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Labor and Social Policy Ministry, the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the State Tax Administration, and the State Customs Service.

The group is to submit proposals to the government on regulating importation of automobiles as humanitarian aid for disabled people.

According to the State Customs Service, 919 automobiles worth US$ 6.9 million were imported into Ukraine as humanitarian aid in the first quarter of 2006. This is 2.4 times more than the number imported during the corresponding period of last year.

According to the service, 70% of these automobiles came from four foreigners.

They include stolen expensive automobiles.
