Ukraine's joining the NATO Action Plan will be a logical and sequential step towards the EU, the President's Secretariat Chief of Staff Oleh Rybachuk said at a meeting with British Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Ukraine Timothy Barrow in Kyiv.

Discussing prospects for cooperation with NATO, the Secretariat Chief of Staff stated that the North Atlantic Alliance is an efficient collective European security system.

The parties also discussed the state of affairs and prospects for development of Ukrainian - British relations.

Oleh Rybachuk stressed that Kyiv is sticking to its obligations as for democratic development of Ukraine. "The President guarantees realization of the declared foreign policy course of Ukraine," Rybachuk said.

The meeting also dealt with Ukraine's accession into the World Trade Organization. As Rybachuk asserted, Kyiv cannot lag with integration into the world trade system, which provides for new perspectives of development of the national economy.

In his turn, the UK Ambassador aired his support for democratic processes in Ukraine. He, in particular, noted the importance of "openness of the authorities and freedom of press for development of a modern democratic country".
