The Ukraine Consulate was officially opened in Ho Chi Minh City on August 28, "Nhan Dan" reported.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Ukraine's Vice Foreign Minister Kostenko and Vice Chairman of the city's People's Council Huynh Thanh Lap both expressed the wish that the two countries would try harder to turn their trade and investment potential into reality.

Vietnamese businessman Vu Dinh Luyen, the Honourary Consul General of the Ukraine Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, said he hoped that the Consulate would serve as a bridge for Vietnamese businesses to invest in wood production factories in Ukraine and to export the produce to European markets.

There are currently about 8,000 Vietnamese people living and working in Ukraine.
