On Saturday, August 26 famous Ukrainian singer Oleksandr Ponomaryov and a student of Shevchenko national university of Kyiv 20-year-old Victoria got married in Aleksandrovsky cathedral.
The bride, dressed in a wedding dress from Ukrainian designer Oksana Karavanska, arrived to the ceremony 40 minutes late. Victoria came into the cathedral arm-in-arm with her father. Younger daughter of Ponomarov, eight-year-old Evgenia, carried the bride’s train.
The wedding ceremony lasted 40 minutes. Then the newly wedded appeared before TV cameras and let out a pair of doves. Guests of the ceremony congratulated the couple and strewed them over with rose-petals.
Neither Oleksandr nor Victoria is Greco-Catholic. However, they decided to get married in this very cathedral as they like Greco-Catholic ceremony of wedding.
Victoria told journalists that she had got acquainted with Oleksandr seven months ago in Ukrainian House. According to her, it was not love at first sight, but it was obvious at that time that they would get married.
After the ceremony the couple went to Mikhail place to lay flowers on the monument to Duchess Olga. Then the wedding procession went to the restaurant of Kyiv hotel to continue merriment.
