Victor Yushchenko has met with leaders of the Ukrainian diaspora, who had come to Kyiv to take part in the Fourth World Forum of Ukrainians, in his family house in the village of Novi Bezradychi, President's press office reported.

The President insisted it was important to build closer ties with diaspora organizations. He added Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry was now using new approaches to cooperate with Ukrainians living abroad. He said a new concept of cooperation with the diaspora Ukrainians had recently been approved.

Yushchenko then spelled out his vision of the current political situation and the National Unity Pact, which helped end last month’s parliamentary crisis.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Borys Tarasyuk, who was present at the meeting, told those present what his ministry was doing to reinforce bonds with "foreign" Ukrainians. He particularly said they had carried out over five hundred projects in forty countries of the world to help Ukrainian communities.
