Victor Yushchenko met with Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko to discussed the work of Ukraine’s law enforcement agencies, President's press office reported.

Lutsenko told the President his ministry had achieved some results in the investigation of the country’s most disputed crimes, particularly the murder of Viktor Savkin, deputy of the Zaporizhzhya City Council.

Yushchenko asked the minister to more actively disclose the bonds of officials with criminals and combat corruption. He said the mass media now more often wrote about deputies’ involvement in unlawful activities. Having characterized these facts as unacceptable, he urged the minister to more meticulously investigate and prevent such crimes.
