Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych told journalists in Sochi that he once again offered Russia to return to the project of the military transport plane AN-70. As the Premier noted, presently, the plane is 98 percent ready. Its certification may finally complete in 2007 and the plane already has several customers in the world, Cabinet's press office informed.

Ukraine and Russia started the project of creating the plane more than 10 years ago, but it has not been completed yet. Over the recent years Russian military representatives, who were the main customers of the plane, several times stated their discontents about the project. In July 2006 Russian Defense Minister Sergey Ivanov announced Russia's withdrawal from the project, but top-most officials of Russia have not passed a final resolution on the issue yet. The share of Russia's liability under the project amounts to 47 mln USD.

Viktor Yanukovych told journalists that he and his Russian counterpart Mikhail Fradkov also discussed likely joint development of a project of a passenger jet plane AN-148. “An integration project with the Voronezh Aviation Works is quite promising. The plane has potential customers,” Yanukovych said, having added that politics must not hamper development of economic Ukrainian - Russian relations.
