Foreign Minister of Ukraine Borys Tarasyuk considers that Ukraine’s aspirations to gain membership in NATO and the European Union do not contradict participation in Common Economic Area.

He told in an interview to radio “Svoboda” that these two courses are compatible. According to him, it follows the Universal of national unity.

Tarasyuk expressed assurance that Ukraine would become the WTO member before the end of this year. He considers that there is a consensus between all political forces of the new coalition concerning Ukraine’s accession into the WTO.

In response to the question which country the new-elected Prime Minister should visit first, Tarasyuk named Russia. “First visits should be paid to Moscow to renew the dialogue and to start solving the problems. I also think about visits to Brussels and Washington,” Ukraine’s Foreign Minister said.

Tarasyuk optimistically looks forward to cooperation with Russia in gas sphere. “We have grounds to hope that the new government will manage to agree with Russia on gas supplies,” Tarasyuk declared.
