The United States will not be able to help Ukraine pay its gas bills in case if the break of gas agreements with Russia leads to gas price rise, as US Ambassador to Ukraine William Taylor said in an interview to “Zerkalo nedeli”.

“I’ve come to Ukraine not with full pockets of money which may help to pay gas bills,” the Ambassador said.

Taylor advised to use international experience to reduce power inputs of Ukrainian economy. “There are experts, experience, energy saving programs, alternative energy sources programs,” the diplomat noted.

He did not specify whether US would finance these programs, but said they were ready to provide political and diplomatic aid.

Taylor informed that he had already offered help of the American party to President Yushchenko.

The Ambassador considers that it is the President who must decide about break of gas deals. He also exclaimed at position of PR leader Victor Yanukovich, who opposed the break and review of the gas agreement with Russia.
