On June 20, in Geneva (Switzerland) Borys Tarasyuk, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and his Korean counterpart Ban Ki-Moon held a meeting in the framework of the first session of newly created UN Human Rights Council.

In the course of the meeting the ministers focused on ways of intensification of political dialogue between two countries. In the wake of this issue, the parties agreed on the possibility to hold this year an official visit of the President of Ukraine to the Republic of Korea, the MFA press office informed. The ministers discussed wide range of issues related to the bilateral cooperation, particularly those of mechanical engineering, science and education, high technologies, military and technical cooperation.

Mr. Ban Ki-Moon highly assessed the visa-regime liberation agreements with Ukraine inked on May 25, 2006. He has stressed that Ukraine is the only country on the post-Soviet space with which Korea set the relevant set of documents.

The ministers also exchanged views on the UN reforming and the ways to interact within the UN Human Rights Council.
