Turkmen President Saparmurat Niyazov and Ukraine Presdent Victor Yushchenko had a phone conversation yesterday. They addressed the pressing issues of Ukrainian-Turkmen relationships. The discussion has been initiated by the President of Ukraine, the Turkmen president press office informed.
According to the press representative, the heads of the countries focused on the questions related to the mutual payment for Turkmen gas export. The parties confirmed mutual willingness to consolidate and extend intergovernmental commercial and economic ties, in particular Turkmen natural gas export and Caspian hydrocarbon resources.
The President of Ukraine made a request President Niyazov to hold a meeting with Ukraine Energy Minister Ivan Plachkov who is going to visit Turkmenistan in the nearest time.
The Presidents agreed to meet in the second half of the current year for purpose to reconcile on the main trends of further bilateral cooperation.
