Latvia President Vairas Vīķes-Freibergas urges all countries-members of NATO to work out and approve of concrete forms of extended collaboration between the Atlantic Treaty and Ukraine and Georgia.

Addressing the U.S. Congress, Mrs. Vīķes-Freibergas proposed to endorse such program at the Riga Summit in November.

“Latvia supports the aspirations of Ukraine and Georgia towards closer relations with the North-Atlantic Treaty Organisation. We strongly believe in the open-door policy which must be reserved for future accession of new members into the Alliance,” said Latvia President Vīķes-Freibergas.
