Victor Yushchenko has met with Dutch businessmen. Foreign Minister Borys Tarasyuk, Energy Minister Ivan Plachkov, Economy Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, National Bank Chairman Volodymyr Stelmakh and Ukraine’s Ambassador to the Netherlands Oleksandr Kupchyshyn attended the meeting.

Addressing the businessmen, who represented the country’s leading companies and banks, the Head of State said the annual turnover between Ukraine and the Netherlands was USD 1 bln. He added that Dutch companies had already invested about a billion in the Ukrainian economy in 2006.

“This makes me claim Ukraine’s investment climate has undergone profound changes,” he said, President's press office reported.

The President admitted that there were certain economic problems but assured those present the government would introduce reforms.

The business leaders were particularly interested to hear about our country’s progress in adapting laws to European standards, developing competition, improving copyright protection, promoting freedom of speech, introducing energy efficiency and reforming medicine.
